Meditation. Something I am often asked about. I personally wasn’t a fan but if I’m honest I’d never given it a fair go. After reading some of the research whilst doing my MSc in Psychology I realised I may be missing out. I discuss in this video. Time Under Tension and Tempo

When I am asked what someone can change in their training to make the most significant difference, I always ask if they are utilising TUT/tempo, if the answer is no, that’s what I advise they pay attention to. Alongside suitable nutrition for the goal tut/temp as part of a well written programme makes all the difference to may fitness goals including fatloss, hypertrophy, prehab/rehab. Web: www...

Good video I'm thinking of joining when older
Highly recommend a vegan diet. Smash the calories in but get loads of fruit and veg and lots of carbs such as oats, rice, wheat, pasta. The royal marines also support vegan diets and the food is amazing
Sorry bit no they dont. You kill chickens and rabbits in training ypu stupor fook
Glen Scott 😂😂😂 he thought he new it all
Facepalm 🤦🏼♂️
Wasnt allowed to be keep vegan diet but the preperation I recommended works well. Ive now been in two years.
@@ilikelampshades6 wasn't talking about your comment was talking about the spelling of last two guys
Thanks mate.
Great advice
it's pushups not press ups
Lol. Not in the Royal Marines! You'd be getting plenty of extra press-ups for calling them push-ups!
What is the minimum number to stay in the course?
Download and read my Pass The PRMC ebook, all explained in there (available at seanlerwill.com). There is no simple answer as it changes and its not about one specific test. Also, asking what the minimum is not the RM way... Aim high not low.
This is AWESOME!! I have a bleep test in my school in two weeks and i tried one today and got 11.6, I'm turning 16 this year, is 11.6 good?
That's not a bad score at all - well done.
Hi Sean, I have a quick question. Currently putting together a fitness regime for POC. I have mostly circuits, HIIT stuff (run, bike, ergo) as well as RMFA specific bodyweight stuff. Would you recommend including a high weight, low rep strength session in the gym (squat, deadlift etc) once a week as well? Cheers. P.s. great channel, lots of good info!
I'm glad you've found the channel useful, it makes the effort to make the videos worhtwhile! My best advice is to download my Pass the PRMC ebook (the fitness is the same for POC), everything is explained in there and there's a 8 week programme to follow. Saves me having to write out specific info for everyone that asks. Good luck.
Simplest but best one there is
What is a gainer?
A method to improve pull-ups and press-ups - download my Pass the PRMC ebook if the video doesn't explain it as it's written in there as well.
I'm just getting back into fitness after about a a year and a half off.. I was injured before, I had patella tendinitis in both knees, but now even after only a few weeks of low intensity getting back into it I am finding I can already run the first mile and a half in the 12:30 without any training, so I'm starting to work on my return now by doing intervals 45sec @ 13kph 30secs down to 6kph walk... do you think I should start running outside now or should I just stick to specific training on the treadmill until I have done my pjft? I feel like the long time off is what has helped me run better on a treadmill as my body has just adapted straight away to the smooth cadence of the belt and I don't want to affect that
I'm afraid I'm not one to offer injury advice or medical advice over social media Mikey. Source a physio or speak to your doctor. I wouldn't want to advise you and make things worse. Good luck with it.
What's that song?
If you dont mind me asking, why did you leave ?
I had achieved much of what I set out to achieve. I also felt with only one life it's worth experiencing other things as I had other opportunities presented to me. I think the ice cream analogy works well. I like chocolate ice cream, I could happily have only chocolate ice cream, but if I've never tried vanilla or strawberry how do I know if I might like them better? I chose to try the other flavours life offered. However, I am very glad I spent time in the Marines and wouldn't change it for anything. There will always be things I will miss about it.
Lets do this together brothers
Passed my Marines PJFT today, easy up until the last 4 min of the second run so glad I passed through! Bring on PRMC!
Well done. I trust the PRMC training is going well?
hows everyone doing on this ?
What the fitness app called
Cut fitness App
I'm currently training for the marines and I'm currently doing this for my push ups and pull ups is there any more advice for me aswell as this that you can give me ?
All the advice I have I put in my Pass the PRMC ebook, available from seanlerwill.com
I really like your royal marine hats. where are they from I'd love to get one for my dad. obviously not for me as I haven't earned one yet
This one was a gift, made for me. The other one was made for recruiting when I was serving. There weren't many around so you may struggle to find one!
Where do you get your hats from ?
This one was a gift, made for me. The other one was made for recruiting when I was serving. There weren't many around so you may struggle to find one!
Any tips for the interview?
Be yourself. Be honest. Be respectful. Be confident but not arrogant. Don't feel the need to fill silences. Answer questions naturally and wait to be asked for more info if it's required.
just wondering pal. do you have to do the royal navy recruitment test or any type of paper tests before you have a interview for the royal marines? please give me a reply mate cheers!
Great advice mate, I'll add the intervals to my program. I have found that I can run easier on a running track compared to the treadmill. It just feels like I have to run so much faster on the treadmill, no idea why! Maybe it's the 2% incline. Nearly where I need to be anyway, but I'm sure this'll finish the job!
as I am a 28 year old looking to join, do you think it is as worthwhile as someone joining when they are younger?
Absolutely. If its something you want, you have to do it.
A fantastic view on perhaps one of the most important aspects on the POC, Cheers Sean.
Mate I am confused, on the fitness PDF on the Royal Marines website it says a 3 mile run both in 1.5 increments one set at 12.30 the other one done as quickly as you can in under 10.30. Is this treadmill test done as well as that or is it a replacement to running a 3 miles outside? I have always wanted to be a Royal Marine since 13 I was in the Royal Marine cadets for a couple of years I know that is not much compared to the real thing. But now i am 18 pondering about what to do. It would be a great help if you cleared up the confusion. Also I was never good at the bleep test in high school is it hard to go from round 8 or 10 i think was my best to the maximum of 16 i believe.
Things change, but from what I understand at the moment, the PJFT is 2 x 1.5 runs on a treadmill, the first in 12.30 (essentially a warm-up) the second a 1.5mile best effort. When serving this test is the BFT (basic fitness test) and is done outdoors in boots.
can you do gainers on top of other daily training such as circuits, hiit, and cardio?
You could, but don't overtrain. Ensure enough rest when you need it. Cardio would be fine, but circuits and gainers might see your training go backwards as you aren't allowing enough rest.
How can I improved my pull ups? Because I've been working on them and I can't seem to physically get myself up now matter how much training I've done?
Download my Pass the PRMC ebook, lots of methods in there. seanlerwill.com
What supplements do you take, looking at getting maxinutrition but am very confused about which ones will help me as all the names are confusing
I generally only use the basic promax and promax lean. Lean in the mornings as it has caffeine in it. Promax after exercise and at other times.
Sean Lerwill no creatine? Glucosamine or anything else?
this is a really great channel. there is so much substance in so many of the videos. im joining the RM after my a-levels, so thank you for the advice.
Thanks for the comment James. Glad the videos are helping people.
Only thing I'm completely petrified of are spiders to the point you can feel the fear go through your body and forces you to freeze up. God knows why, almost all of them in Britain are harmless. Do you think I should overcome that beforehand? Because of going to the Jungle eventually etc I imagine if I was there around the lads I would just pluck up the balls from somewhere and hold a Tarantula anyway though
If it's that bad it may be worth working on before, yes.
I have my PJFT next month and I´m struggling with the second run. After my 1.5 mile in 12:30 I get tired but still cant finish my second run. I have done the interval running and have improved a lot but still struggling. I feel like I dont have much time left. Any suggestions?
Have you downloaded my Pass the PRMC ebook? Lots of tips and advice in there Miguel.
hi, im 16 and currently training for PRMC. lots of people are telling me to do calisthenics and lots are telling me do weight training. i honestly don`t know which type of training would be best. what do you recommend? cheers.
Get yourself a copy of my Pass the PRMC ebook, there's an 8 week programme in there designed to get you fit for PRMC. Find it at seanlerwill.com
Thank great video helped me a lot
passed my pjft last year got injured before prmc dreading doing it all again but gonna do these treadmill gainers see how i fair thank yoi
You are welcome.
I did the test and I'm not very slim... but I really want to improve my score mines #.4 I'm I can't say its too bad but thank you it's very good and it's helpful
Glad it helped. Thanks for the comment.
Hi Sean thanks for the vid, I too have struggled with push ups and pull ups and I am looking to meet the standards for PRMC. Would you suggest doing both push ups and pull ups in the same day while doing this technique? If so how long would you suggest between doing the 9 sets of each. Thanks in advance.
Grab yourself a copy of my Pass the PRMC ebook from seanlerwill.com and follow the 8 week structured programme. That'll answer your questions.
brilliant. Been looking for these. Nice one Sean.
You're welcome Josh.
The one I do in my school is slower, this is frickin massive
What's a pass for this ?
There's no set pass score. Its about your ability across all the tests. Don't think about minimum. Thats not the RM way...
What was the hardest part of Royal Marine training?
We are all different. We all find different things tough. Therefore it differs for every person.
Good dit Royal
Hi, will this work for sit ups as well? Thanks!
Yes, it would.
thanks for the massive support
You're welcome, thanks for the comment.
Do you need a P.E/ Sport qualification to become a PTI in the Marines as I would be interested in that area and I have not got any qualifications in that field?
+tom scottow No Tom. You need a certain level of english and maths to be promoted to Cpl and you need to be a Cpl to do a PT2s course. However, you don't need any former PE/Sports qualifications.
+Sean Lerwill Great! What sort of level of Maths & English are needed to be promoted to Cpl?
passed prmc Sean 2 days ago sean ;-)
+SealOfSalmon well done! Don't let your fitness drop. Keep it up until you start training.
+Sean Lerwill yes Sean already back on it. Had rest day yesterday and just went swimming.
Hi Sean, I'm 16 so have a while until I try out for a prmc, and I go to the gym probably 3-5 times a week, should I be focusing more on calisthenics or should I carry on weight training, both have there perks as I know being able to lift your weight very easily is helpful but I'm worried once I have the 11lb or so on my back my body would only be used to body weight exercises, sorry long question, thank you a lot these videos are very helpful.
+Harry Hoskins mix it up. Worth keeping both going. I did a mix of both at Uni before I joined.
Thankyou for all your advice, gainers are brilliant! start RT in Feb
Hi Sean , a quick question, How should I dress for the Psychometric RT? It would be greatly appreciated if you could answer, thank you P.s Keep up the great work
+Sqwiggles dress as in what to wear? You'll be directed, but you can't go wrong with smart. I'd suggest a shirt and tie. A suit if you have one.
Thanks for the vid, I've always struggled with pull ups and I have tried gainers however like you said, I haven't got regular access to a bar, so I think this technique is really going to help. Also I would just like to say I really loved the 'pass the PRMC' book as it is really helping me improve my fitness mentally and physically, and is helping me to achieve my goal of earning the Green Beret. Thanks for your hard work.
+1998GIJOE thanks for the message Joe, I really appreciate the feedback. Very pleased the book and videos are helping. If you have time, pelase spread the word on the PRMC forums or if you have the inclination, feel free to leave a book review on Amazon so others know that the book is helpful. Keep training hard.
